Shams Jahangir-Arshad of San Marcos shot 5-under 205 following his rounds of 69-75-71 to register a two-shot win over the field at the Santa Barbara City Championship at Santa Barbara Golf Club.
Jahangir-Arshad, a high school senior, has committed to play golf at Oregon starting this Fall. Heading into the final round, he held a one-shot lead at 6-under par, with Drew Miller close behind at 5-under. Jahangir-Arshad sustained his lead throughout the last round, posting a 1-over 71 to conclude two strokes ahead of the competition, achieving a total score of 5-under par.
The Men’s Gross Flight saw participation from 75 players with only 25 making it past the 36-hole cut.
Dale Keene of Sundale CC clinched victory in the Men’s Net Championship after a scorecard playoff, tying with Tim Lowder of Santa Barbara GC with matching scores of 11-over par. Keene's consistent rounds of 72, 74, and 75 matched Lowder's scores of 71, 75, and 75, resulting in an identical total of 11-over 221.
In the Women’s Net Championship Flight, Sandra Featherson secured victory with a commanding three-stroke lead. She crafted rounds of 78, 67, and 79, culminating in a total score of 8-over par. Following closely behind, Sheri Dean claimed the runner-up position with scores of 71, 79, and 77, finishing at 11-over par.
The tournament saw participation from 119 players - 75 in Men’s Gross Flight, 32 in Men’s Net Flight and 12 in Women’s Flight.
