Senior British Open: John Kemp earns top 20 finish amidst horrendous conditions

No golfers shot under-par in the final round when heavy rain and wind came in and created carnage on the course.

Rain and 60-mile-per-hour winds are not exactly conducive to the best golf being played, and the guys who made the weekend at the Senior British Open at Royal Porthcawl Golf Course in Wales learned that the hard way.

Not a single golfer shot under par in the final round on Sunday, and Y.E. Yang was the only golfer that shot a round of even par 71.

Amateur John Kemp of England shot a 3-over 74 and vaulted 31 spots up the leaderboard to finish T14 as the conditions got worse and worse all day, and Kemp benefitted from going out early in the morning.

Kemp was the lone amateur to make the cut, making him the low amateur for the week.

To give more context on the conditions, the cut was set on Friday at 5-over, so anyone who finished 6-over or worse missed the cut.

Only two golfers finished better than 6-over total, with Alex Cejka and Padraig Harrington finishing at 5-over and going into a playoff. Cejka won on the second playoff hole with a birdie as Harrington made par.
