Schuster gets second straight winter win at Arizona Silver Belle

The 16-year-old from the Outer Banks of N.C. backed up her Dixie win in Florida with a two-shot win in the desert

By Julie Williams Katherine Schuster is quickly becoming queen of the winter circuit. Considering that Schuster’s goal for the off-season was to improve her self-trust on the golf course, the cross-country travel has been time well spent. Schuster, a 16-year-old from Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, won the Joanne Winter Arizona Silver Belle Championship on Dec. 30 with a final-round 65 at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona. She was 7 under for 54 holes, and topped a field mixed with juniors and college players. The Silver Belle title came 10 days after Schuster won the Dixie Women’s Amateur on the other side of the country in Tamarac, Florida.
