UC Davis freshman Samantha Hutchison of San Jose posted back-to-back rounds of 69 to win by four at Bartley Cavanaugh

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — UC Davis freshman Samantha Hutchison of San Jose posted back-to-back rounds of 69 to win the California State Fair Women's Championship by four at Bartley Cavanaugh Golf Course Hutchison, who graduated from Pioneer High School in San Jose this past May, will join the Lady Aggies this fall. She shared the opening-round lead with Regan de Guzman, a San Jose State senior from The Philippines, and Kyleigh Moreno, a Santa Clara sophomore from San Jose. The trio led by a stroke over another group of three players who posted 2-under 70 on Saturday. Hutchison carded another 3-under round on Sunday to break away from the pack and capture a four-shot victory. Second place went to two players — Fresno State senior Hannah Sodersten of Clovis and Sadie Strain of Arbuckle. Both players rebounded from disappointing first rounds, with Sodersten firing 68 and Strain 69.
