Rusty Strawn repeats at Society of Seniors Ralph Bogart Tourney

While not as dramatic as his playoff victory last year, Rusty Strawn's win at the Society of Seniors Ralph Bogart Tournament on Wednesday was just as satisfying.

Carding rounds of 71-68-70 at the Crown Colony Golf Club in Fort Myers, Fla., the McDonough, Ga. native posted a winning score of 7-under 209, which was good for a six-shot victory over his closest pursuer, Brian Keenan (Tampa, Fla.), who finished at 1-under 215.

Strawn and Keenan were the only two players to finish under par Crown Colony, while Michael Kelley (Westerville, OH) managed to finish at even par 216.

Strawn seized control of the tournament with a 4-under 68 in the second round Tuesday and cruised to the title with a workman-like 2-under 70 in the final round which included 16 pars and two birdies.

The Bogart has been very good to Strawn over the years. Following two runner-up finishes in the same tournament, Strawn chipped in from behind the green to defeat fellow Georgian Jack Kearney in a playoff last year at the Forest Country Club in Fort Myers to secure his first national win. Since that breakthrough victory a year ago, Strawn went on to win five events in 2021 to rise to No. 2 in AmateurGolf.com's/Golfweek senior rankings.

Mike Arnold (Fort Myers) and Bill Barnes (Bonita Springs, Fla.) tied for the Super Senior championship at 1-under 215 while Jim DuBois (Coral Gables, Fla.) won the Grand Master Division by one stroke over Rusty Napier and Jack Marin, finishing at 9-over 225.
