Ronne, O'Donnell and Schmidt earn titles at Oregon Stroke Play

Craig Ronne wins Open Division of 69th Oregon Men’s Stroke Play Championship at Emerald Valley Golf Club

Craig Ronne finished 4-under par to win the Open Division at the 69th Oregon Men’s Stroke Play Championship held Aug. 6-8 at Emerald Valley Golf Club in Creswell.

Ronne held the early lead posting birdies on three of his first four holes in Sunday's final round, but gave back all three strokes by hole No. 10. After a bogey on No. 17 dropped him into a three-way tie for first, Ronne rebounded with a clutch birdie on No. 18 to seal the victory.

He opened the event Thursday posting a 1-over par 73, followed that up with a 5-under par 67 in Friday’s second round which included six birdies offset by one bogey.

Nate Stember (72-71-70), the reigning Oregon Amateur Champion, joined Jonathan Lai (70-70-73) in a tie for second at 3-under par.

Pat O’Donnell continued his domination of the Senior Division, recording his 11th Oregon Men’s Stroke Play title in the last 15 years, including victories in six of the last seven. He finished at 2-under par in posting rounds of 72, 71 and 71 for the win.

Scott Larsen (72-71-75) took second a 2-over, while Walter Porterfield (72-73-74) finished in third at 3-over.

The Master 40 Division saw Dusty Schmidt cruise to a nine-stroke win, finishing the competition even par after carding rounds of 71, 73 and 72. Adam Harrington (73-76-76) and Jason Wood (78-77-76) finished second and third respectively.
