The Rocket Mortgage Monday qualifier at Fieldstone went to a playoff — four players for three spots. It was over on the first hole when one of the four, Hayden Springer of Texas, accidentally had a 15th club in his bag. Two-stroke penalty, and that was that. Sad story.

Kyle Reifers was an "easy-in" during the Rocket Mortgage Monday qualifier, pacing the field with an 8-under 64 at Michigan's Fieldstone Golf Club.
That left four players who tied at 66 with the chance to grab the three remaining spots. Those are good odds, but nerve-wracking nonetheless. Things changed suddenly when Hayden Springer discovered he had one too many clubs in the bag.
