Richard Kim earns low amateur honors at Calif. State Open

Amateurs Richard Kim and Danny Ochoa finished inside the top-10 at the California State Open in Beaumont

BEAUMONT, Calif. (July 25, 2015) — The 116th California State Open concluded Saturday at Morongo Golf Club in Beaumont, Calif. Grabbing the low amateur honors was Richard Kim of Beverly Hills, Calif. Kim shot four consecutive rounds in the 60s (67, 69, 69, 68) and finished in a tie for 3rd place. Kim finished just five strokes off the leader Bryan Martin who was 20-under total. Also playing well as an amateur was Danny Ochoa of Rancho Santé Fe, Calif. Ochoa, a USC Trojan, shot a 71 on Saturday to finish at 12-under and take 8th place overall. Ochoa and Kim were two of 17 amateurs to make the cut, a pretty impressive feat against some of California’s top professional talent.
