Reeves sets course record, becomes Sacramento County Jr Champ

Soon-to-be senior Bradley Reeves overcomes first round 77 to shoot Cherry Island course record of 61

As the afternoon wore on, the whispers of "59" were heard throughout the Cherry Island Golf Course in Elverta, CA. Bradley Reeves of Woodbridge established a new course record at Cherry Island Golf shooting a score of 61 (11 under par) in the second round of the Sacramento County Junior Golf Championship. His 11-under for Wednesday was a whopping 16 shots better than his first round of 77, and was the difference in being named Overall Boys Champion. With a mere three holes to play, Reeves was 11-under par and had a shot at immortality... almost unheard of as a kid who just finished his junior year of high school. He was close, but he lipped out a birdie putt on his 16th hole, made par on his 17th and make a great up and down to save par on his last hole. His final score of 11-under 61 was good enough to best the course record by one stroke. Now his scorecard will be on display in the Pro Shop. Reeves has had a great year, winning the Golfweek Northern California Junior Invitational and the Golfweek West Coast Junior Invitational in mid-May. Brook Riley of Manteca fired to consecutive sub par rounds of 69 and 70 to become the 2015 Overall Girls Champion.
