Through seven holes in the final round of the 94th Georgia Women's Amateur Championship at Horseshoe Bend Country Club, Reagan Southerland knew her chances to win were fading.
But she also knew she wasn't done just yet.
Loralie Cowart was 5-under and Southerland was even par with just 11 holes left in the Championship and Southerland's chances looked to be slim at best.
Southerland double bogeyed the sixth hole and bogeyed the seventh hole.
“I knew I was doing the right things, so I just knew that if I stayed patient with it that I’d be able to recover,” Southerland told Stan Awtrey of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Then, Southerland had a back nine that will go down in the GWAC's history books.
Southerland made par on holes 10 and 11 and then birdied 12. After a par on 13, Southerland finished eagle-birdie-birdie-birdie to win the Championship by three strokes, creating an eight shot swing on the final 11 holes.
The incoming freshman at North Carolina Southerland shot a 30 on the back nine and finished with a 3-under 67 to win the Championship.
“It’s really freeing to know you can step over a putt and look at the hole and know it’s going in. That is a good feeling,” she told the AJC.
Southerland knew her game was in a good place coming into the tournament.
“I feel like my game was really solid coming into this tournament,” she told the AJC. “I knew if I did the right things and focused on what I needed to focus on, I would have a chance at the end of the week. My game felt really good in practice. I had a really good solid practice round. I just love this golf course. I told my dad that on Thursday night.”
