Rafter, a junior at Cal State Fullerton, was the only player to go under par at the Tournament of Club Champions

VALENCIA, Calif. (Nov. 26, 2018) – Matt Rafter, a junior at Cal State Fullerton, was the only player to go under par on Monday at the SCGA Tournament of Club Champions. Rafter, who plays out of Industry Hills Golf Club, had a 3-under 69 at the Oaks Club at Valencia that gave him a three-shot victory.

Rafter had a steady day that included six birdies and three bogeys, one of which came at the 18th hole (Rafter started on No. 11). The Fullerton native previously attended Cypress College after a standout high school career at Whitter Christian School.

Behind Rafter, Danny Thogmartin and Andy Alvarez are tied for second at even-par 72. Starting on No. 15, Thogmartin made birdie at Nos. 17 and 18, but bogeyed Nos. 1 and 2 after making the turn to fall back to even and stay there. Alvarez, who started on No. 16, was 4 under in his final five holes.

Thogmartin won this even in 2016.

Bill Barry had a 1-under 71 to win the senior division. He was one shot ahead of three players at 72 including Bill Borden, Les Farmer and Mark Nickeas.
