Pros defeat Ams for First Time Since 2009 in Tar Heel Cup

The PGA Professional team won the Tar Heel Cup over the Amateurs with a total score of 9.5 to 2.5

WALLACE, NC (April 4, 2017) -- For the first time since 2009, the PGA Professional team won the Tar Heel Cup over the Amateurs with a total score of 9.5 to 2.5.

Two teams of the best playing amateurs and PGA Professionals from the state of North Carolina met for the 23rd time in a friendly team match and for the third time the event was hosted by the River Course at River Landing Country Club.

East side was made up of eight players and on day one the PGA Professional swept the Four- Ball matches to take a commanding 4-0 lead.

Day two features singles matches but once again the PGA Professional ruled the day taking the session 4.5-2.5

Savio Nazareth (p) halved with Scott Harvey (a)

Chris Haarlow (p) halved with David Gies (a)

Larry George (p) defeated David Sargent (a) 2&1

Scooter Buhrman (p) halved with Lionell Sutton (a)

Josh Nichols (a) defeated Nick Jacobi (p) 1 up

Matt Vick (p) defeated Dustin Moore (a) 1 up

Michael Hutcheon (p) defeated Paul Tucker (a) 1 up

With the win the PGA Professionals now hold an all-time lead of 14-6-3.
