Don Foberg, a Plymouth Country Club member, won the Hornblower Senior Championship on his home golf course. By accomplishing the feat, he joins elite company. He is only the second Plymouth Country member to ever win the regular Hornblower or Senior Hornblower and became the first player since 1975 when Plymouth resident Bill Butner won.
For two days on his home track, Foberg was 3 over. He had rounds of 76-65, and he needed every one of the four birdies he made in his bogey-free second round. Foberg trailed by six shots at the beginning of Day 2.
Foberg also won the Plymouth Country Club Club Championship earlier this year. His 3-over total at the Senior Hornblower left him just one shot ahead of Don Reycroft and Jack Kearney.
Steve Tasho, at 5 over, was solo fourth followed by four players who all finished at 7 over.
