The Philadelphia Four-Ball Stroke Play Championship has been postponed due to unplayable course conditions at The Legacy Club at Woodcrest in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
The 55th edition of the championship was scheduled for August 27 in an 18-hole better-ball format open to players with a handicap index of 18.0 or less. Players will be notified once new dates are confirmed for the rescheduled event.
The postponement comes as two teams — Brian Hollins and Peter D'Angelo, and Kevin O'Brien and Sean McMonagle — were tied atop the leaderboard at 4-under. The pairing of Mike Kidd and Joe Russo sat two strokes back at 2-under, while Corey Cuneo and Tyler Cuneo were alone in fourth at 1-under.
The format features both gross and net divisions, with strokes for net scores calculated at 90 percent of course handicap. Teams with a difference of more than eight strokes after allowance face an additional 10 percent reduction to each member's course handicap.
The 2024 winners, McMonagle and O’Brien of Tavistock Country Club and Cedarbrook Country Club, are in this year’s field. The defending champions, Tyler Debusschere and Hunter Stetson, who fired a 10-under 62 to take the 2025 title, are not.
Partners need not be members of the same club to compete, but both must be members of clubs affiliated with the Golf Association of Philadelphia.
The Legacy Club at Woodcrest will work with tournament organizers to identify a suitable makeup date that accommodates both the course and the field.
