Peake sets the pace at Golfweek Senior Tournament of Champions

Allen Peake is chasing his first major senior amateur win of the year but he'll have to hold off Gene Elliott to do it

LECANTO, Fla. (Nov. 29, 2018) – Allen Peake maintained his lead Thursday in the second round of the Golfweek Senior Tournament of Champions. Peake put up a second consecutive round of 1-over 73 on the challenging Black Diamond Ranch Quarry Course to maintain a one-shot advantage.

Peake’s second round was uneventful, and included just three bogeys and two birdies. He is chasing his first major senior amateur victory this season after several top-10 finishes.

That could be a tough task in Friday’s final round, however, considering the caliber of player on his heels. Gene Elliott is just one shot behind Peake after rounds of 74-73. Elliott qualified for the Senior Open in Scotland and since then won the Golfweek Senior Match Play title. He is an Iowa amateur legend.

Robin Bradbury and Mark Knecht are tied for third at 6 over. Mark Nickerson is fifth another shot back.

Paul Schlachter, a Pennsylvania standout, leads the super senior division by two after a 2-under 70 in the second round.

John Blank also had a second-round 70 and leads the legends division by three.
