Krause’s final score included rounds of 72-69 – 141 (-3) to finish as the only player under-par for the Championship. She joins her sister, Jenny Krause, as a winner of an OGA Championship this year – Jenny won the Oregon Women’s Public Links title back in July.
In second place was defending champion and incoming Portland State senior Hannah Swanson (Forest Grove, Ore.). Last year’s winner fired rounds of 75-72 – 147 to finish at 3-over par, six back of Krause. Victoria Gailey (Tigard, Ore.), standout Oregon Junior Golfer, earned a third place finish with rounds of 74-74 – 148 (+4).
In the Senior Championship, Wicks entered play on Wednesday with a three-shot lead over Ginny Burkey (Eugene, Ore.). While Wicks was holding on to a slim lead entering the back nine, Wicks pulled away after the first 27-holes. The 2016 Oregon Senior Women’s Amateur champion fired a 2-under par 36 on the back nine, while Burkey shot 1-over, solidifying Wicks’ fourth Oregon Senior Women’s Stroke Play title (2013-15, 2017).
Wicks finished with scores of 74-72 – 146 (E). Burkey earned second place, shooting 77-74 – 151 (+5). Debbie Friede (Washougal, Wash.) and Lara Tennant (Portland, Ore.) tied for third place at 9-over par for the Championship.
