Ohio State, Kary Hollenbaugh hold off deep field at Clemson Invitational

Arkansas’ Kendall Todd sets NCAA record, Buckeyes set program scoring record en route to 10-shot victory

Ohio State rolled to a dominant 10-stroke win at the Clemson Invitational, held at The Reserve at Lake Keowee in Sunset, S.C. The Buckeyes fired rounds of 275-272-272 to finish at 45 under, setting both a tournament and program record with a 54-hole total of 819, according to OSU Athletics.

Arkansas finished second at 35 under (279-282-268), with the Razorbacks’ closing 268 marking the lowest team round of the tournament by four shots. LSU took third at 26 under with rounds of 280-282-276.

Statistically, the Buckeyes led the field in par-3 and par-5 scoring and finished second to Arkansas in par-4 scoring. Their 74 birdies were the most of any team.

Individually, Ohio State’s Kary Hollenbaugh delivered a record-breaking performance of her own. The sophomore fired rounds of 68-68-64 to win by one over Arkansas’ Kendall Todd. Hollenbaugh’s final-round 64 was a career-best and the second-lowest round in Ohio State history. She made just two bogeys over 54 holes and played her final 44 holes bogey-free.

Todd nearly stole the show, carding a final-round 61 that included 11 birdies and no bogeys. According to Arkansas Athletics, her 61 ties the NCAA women’s record for the lowest round.

Ole Miss’ Caitlyn Macnab finished third at 12 under with rounds of 69-67-68. Ohio State’s Marina Joyce-Moreno took fourth at 11 under, and Arkansas’ Maria Jose Marin rounded out the top five at 10 under.

The champion Buckeyes will return to action April 12–13 at the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational, hosted at OSU’s Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.
