Three consecutive birdies from Nos. 7-9 – then another at 11 – were a good start, but it was the eagle on the par-5 15th that really separated Knoll, a Dalton, Ga., resident. A final-round 68 erased the ground he lost with a second-round 77, and at even par for 54 holes, Noll took home his fourth title in this event.
Noll held off senior golf stalwart Doug Hanzel and Stan Gann, who tied for second at 2 over, and that’s no small feat. Hanzel, AmateurGolf.com’s Senior Player of the Year in 2017, won this title in 2004.
Poli Medrano was fourth at 4 over and David Denham finished solo fifth another shot back.
