NJCAA player medals at SunTrust Gator Women's Invite

Daytona State's Jiwon Jeon finished 7-under and as the five-stroke winner

GAINSVILLE, FL (March 11, 2018) - At the SunTrust Gator Women's Invite Jiwon Jeon of Daytona State College stole the show. A sophomore for the NJCAA school, Jeon finished 7-under and as the five-stroke winner at Mark Bostick Golf Course. Jeon, from South Korea, signed for rounds of 68-66-69 and on Sunday she eased her way into the winners circle with a three birdie, two bogey final round. The birdies for Jeon came on Nos. 6, 8 and 17. Jeon helped Daytona State College to an eighth place finish, a finish that could be good enough to earn them an at-large bid into the Women's NCAA Division I Tournament. Behind Jeon were Florida's Sierra Brook (-2) and Elin Esborn (-1) in second and third, Annelie Sjoholm (+1) of Campbell was fourth while four others shared fifth at 2-over. In the team race Florida won the title thanks to three players finishing inside the top-10 and an entire line up placing in the top-20. All five Gators contributed to their even-par finish and their second win of the season, both coming this spring. The win marked the the eighth time in 13 years and the third consecutive year that Florida has captured the SunTrust Gator Women's Invite title. Furman and Campbell shared second at 12-over, Tennessee was fourth at 17-over and Oregon was 17-over in fifth.
