NCAA Central Regional: UAB leads Illinois, Clemson, Kent State

Wilson McDonald shot 72 and Paul Dunne a 73 to power UAB to a one-shot lead after the first round of action at the NCAA Men's Central Regional at Rich Harvest Farms

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. (May 15, 2014) -- Wilson McDonald shot 72 and Paul Dunne a 73 to power UAB to a one-shot lead after the first round of action at the NCAA Men's Central Regional at Rich Harvest Farms. UAB also got a 73 from Sam love and the team holds a one shot lead over local favorite Illinois. The Illini were led by a low-round effort from Brian Campbell, who shot 69. Charlie Danielson added a 73 while Jonathan Hauter shot 75. In the tightly-contested team competition, Clemson is tied for third alongside Kent State. Carson Young (72) and Cody Proveaux (73) powered the Tigers while Porter Cup champion Taylor Pendrith shot a 70, tying for second in the individual race, and powering Kent State. Jones Cup winner Corey Conners shot 75 to help Kent State get within seven shots of UAB entering Friday's Round 2.
