Matthew Avril has captured the medalist honors at the Florida Senior Match Play

SARASOTA, FL (June 12, 2016) -- Matthew Avril has captured the medalist honors at the Florida Senior Match Play. After two days of play Avril finished three-strokes ahead of the rest of the field at The Founders Golf Club. Avril shot rounds of 66-73--139. Peter Wegmann, following rounds of 70-72--142 finished in second place and will hold the No. 2 seed when match play begins. In the Senior Division the top 32 players advance to match play. The Florida Senior Match Play will continue through Thursday when a champion is set to be crowned. SUPER SENIOR DIVISION Larry Vander Bie and Robert Lundquist shared the medalist honors with a two day total of 145. Vander Bie shot rounds of 68-77 while Lundquist went 74-71. 16 players advanced to the match play portion of the Super Senior Division and the competition will run through Wednesday when a winner will be determined.
