OCALA, FL (September 25, 2016) -- The crowded leaderboard in the Bo Williams City of Ocala Amateur Championship produced three exciting championship matches during the final round at the Ocala Golf Club.
In the Open Division it was Matt Giovannelli who emerged from the deadlock with Jay King as the winner. Giovannelli shot a final round 3-under-par 69 for a two-day score of 5-under-par 139. King finished second at 2-under-par 142. Third place went to Mark Chafee.
In the Senior Division another deadlock was broken but not by much. Crystal River’s Brian Brown shot a final round 2-under-par 70 to edge out Bobby Bryant by a shot. Brown’s 2-day score was 5-under-par 139 and Bryant’s score was 4-under-par 140 (69-71). Finishing third was Larry Cotton at 2-under-par 142 (71-71).
In the Super Senior Division Brian Sachs went wire-to-wire with another 2-under-par 70 and a 4-under-par 140 total. Finishing second was Robert Cunningham. Third place went to Randy Briggs.
