Masen Ward Wins Salt Lake City Amateur with Final-Round Ace

A hole-in-one on the 9th hole powered Masen Ward to a final-round 68 and a one-shot victory

Salt Lake City, Utah (June 1, 2025) – At Bonneville Golf Course, where stunning views and elite amateur talent combine, Masen Ward delivered a signature moment that will be etched in local golf lore: a hole-in-one on the par-3 9th hole during Sunday’s final round. That ace punctuated a back-nine charge en route to a final-round 68 and a thrilling one-shot victory at the 2025 Richard C. Kramer Salt Lake City Amateur.

Ward, who opened the tournament with a solid 70 on Saturday, entered the final round within striking distance. After a steady front nine that included three birdies and the unforgettable ace on No. 9, Ward turned in 33. He held his nerve on the inward nine with clutch pars and a birdie at the par-5 18th to sign for a 3-under 35, good for a 4-under 68 on the day and a 6-under 138 total.

His performance was good enough to edge out Peter Kim and Jackson Mauss by one stroke, both of whom finished at 5-under 139 after strong closing rounds of 67 and 70, respectively.

Spencer Schindler took solo fourth at 4-under, while Parker Bunn was part of a tie for fifth at 3-under after posting the tournament’s lowest round on Sunday, a sizzling 67.

The 2025 edition of the Richard C. Kramer Salt Lake City AM brought together 156 of the region’s top amateurs under pristine late-spring conditions. With preferred entry extended to returning top finishers and past champions, and the Championship Flight battling from the Black Tees, Bonneville GC once again proved a fair but formidable test.

Ward’s victory, punctuated by poise, precision, and a touch of magic, places him among the event’s most memorable champions—and sets the bar high for future contenders.
