SONOMA, Calif. (Oct. 9, 2014) -- On a gorgeous mid-80s October day, Mark Miller took home the title today in a solid-field senior (55+) event at Sonoma Golf Club.
And why wouldn't they come out (ok, work does get in the way) to play a private club that formerly hosted the Champions Tour's Charles Schwab Cup? Miller, of Antioch topped Paul Balatti from Santa Rosa by a single shot, posting 3-over 147 to Balatti's 4-over 148 total.
NCGA Senior Player-of-the-Year Jim Knoll finished solo third at 149.
Jim Duncan, a Sonoma Golf Club member and tournament host, put up a very solid showing of 150 to finish T4 with Mark Parnow.
Sonoma Golf Club will host the Stocker Cup later this month on October 21-24. There may be a few late A or B positions in the field and players can apply online at www.stockercup.com.
