Sahith Theegala of Chino Hills fired a final-round 65 to close a masterful run at the 97th annual Los Angeles City Championship Sunday

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (June 15, 2014) -- Sahith Theegala of Chino Hills fired a final-round 65 to close a masterful run at the 97th annual Los Angeles City Championship Sunday. Theegala, a rising junior golfer, shot rounds of 70-68-67 over the first three days of competition before going low in the final round. It all added up to an impressive eight-shot victory over a loaded field of the region's top golfers. Jon Levitt, Kyle George and Tim Hogarth, a longtime contender in Southern California events and six-time LA City champ, finished tied for second place. Levitt and Hogarth shot final-round 69s to climb the leaderboard. Gunn Yang shot a final-round 67 to slide into fifth place. The Los Angeles City Championship is a 72-hole, stroke-play championship. The championship flight is played at Rancho Park Golf COurse and features a cut to the low 50 players and ties after 36 holes.
