Listen: Road to Hoylake continues with Pak, Cummins

This week, Adelberg features two men who have been teeing it up all summer.

It’s the end of the summer, and the U.S. Amateur is on tap for this coming week. This is what Ben Adelberg, host of The Back of the Range podcast, calls “The Road to Hoylake.”

As the U.S. Walker Cup team fills out for the Sept. 7-8 matches at Royal Liverpool in Hoylake, England, half the fun is getting to know the players in consideration for a team pick. The Back of the Range podcast is telling those stories, two by two.

This week, Adelberg features two men who have been in the Walker Cup conversation all summer and most notably, have been teeing it up all summer.

John Pak won the ACC title to close his sophomore season at Florida State. He has played five amateur tournaments this summer, finishing no worse than 13th in stroke play and making the 16-man match-play bracket at the Western Amateur.

Quade Cummins, meanwhile, has a major victory under his belt. Cummins, who will be a redshirt senior at the University of Oklahoma, put together a ridiculous bogey-free streak at the Pacific Coast Amateur on his way to the win there. He also made match play at the Western.

Hear what both men had to say in this week’s latest episode.
