Letizia Bagnoli goes wire-to-wire at Portuguese International Ladies

Italy's Letizia Bagnoli closed with a 2-under 70 at Montado Golf Resort

PALMELA, Portugal (January 28, 2017) -- Italy's Letizia Bagnoli left little to doubt on the final day of the Portuguese International Ladies Amateur being hosted by Montado Golf Resort. Bagnoli started the day with a two-stroke lead and she was able to close the deal with a smooth 2-under 70 to finish 6-under and ahead of the rest of the field by three. Following an opening hole par Bagnoli rolled in her first birdie on the 2nd hole and then another on the 9th to turn in 2-under 34. Bagnoli did birdie again on the 10th before giving back her only stroke on the 16th, but by then she had built a comfortable lead. Denmark's Line Toft Hansen closed strong with a 3-under 69 which is where she finished to place second. Her day began with a disappointing bogey but five birdies and only one other bogey followed as Hansen bounced back from disappointing second and third rounds. A trio of players shared third place at 2-under; including Swede's Beatrice Wallin and Julia Engstrom along with Mathilde Claisse of France.
