Lefante sets scoring record at Eagle Oaks Invitational

Eric Lefante, a past MGA and NJSGA champion, beats the tournament record by 6 shots and leaves the field 11 shots behind

Eric Lefante set a tournament record firing 68-66 134 to win the 11th Eagle Oaks Invitational wire to wire.

Lefante, a past MGA and NJSGA champion, beat the tournament record by 6 shots and finished 11 shots in front of second place finisher Michael Auerbach 69-76 145. Jim Dufficy, Dawson Jones, Jack Skirkanich and Thomas Lee all shot 4 over 146 to finish in a tie for third place.

Lefante is a past runner-up in the event losing on the third playoff hole in 2018 to two time champion Darin Goldstein. During his record setting performance, he carded nine birdies and an eagle. Goldstein’s second round 68 was the only round that matched either of Lefante’s round totals on the day.

In the Senior Champioship, Harris Podvey was victorious with a total of 146 finishing three shots clear of defending champion Ed Walsh of Trump National. Kyle Magnusson finished in third place with 8 over 150.

In its 11th year, The Eagle Oaks Invitational attracts top mid amateurs from the New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia area. Past champions include Goldstein, two time NJ Brian Komline, Michael Stamberger, Michael Hyland, Peter Baron and Matt Finger.
