Kyle Suppa wins big at Mayor's Cup in Hawaii

High-school senior Kyle Suppa, who made the cut earlier this year at the PGA Tour's Sony Open, won by seven

HONOLULU, Hawaii — Kyle Suppa, a high-school senior at Punahou School in Honolulu, ran way with the 2015 Mayor's Cup on Sunday, firing rounds of 64 and 66 to secure a seven-shot victory. With 6-under 64 at Ala Wai Golf Course in the first round, Suppa led by four through the first 18 holes. The round included two front-nine bogeys, and six birdies on the back, including five in a row from holes 12 to 16. On Sunday, Suppa extended that lead to seven with a bogey-free 66. Suppa made the cut earlier in the year at the PGA Tour's Sony Open, doing so as a 16-year-old. He won an all-amateur qualifier back in November to earn a spot in the field. Only two other players finished the tournament in red figures, with Kyosuke Hara placing second at 3-under 137, and Justin Taparra grabbing third at 139.
