LEWISTON, N.Y. — Kent State senior Josee Doyon, a native of Quebec, Canada, posted 68 at Niagara Falls Country Club to jump out to an early lead at the Women's Porter Cup.
The is the third annual running of the event, which is the sister tournament to the Men's Porter Cup, held each year since 1959. Casie Cathrea captured the inaugural event back in 2013, while Canadian superstar Brooke Henderson was the champion in 2014.
Three players are tied for second place at 70, including soon-to-be high school senior Ana Paula Valdes of Mexico, Ohio State junior Jessica Porvasnik, and Doyon's graduating teammate Jennifer Ha of Alberta, Canada.
This 54-hole event will conclude Friday at the A.W. Tillinghast-designed Niagara Falls Country Club.
