John McCord, an assistant men’s golf coach at Menlo College, put together two consistent rounds at Crystal Springs Golf Club to capture the Peninsula Amateur Championship, finishing the 36-hole event at 3-under 141 for a two-shot victory.
McCord opened with a 2-under 70 and followed with a 71, finishing as the only player to break par in both rounds.
Heedrin Bustamante finished runner-up at 1-under 143, following an opening 73 with a final-round 70 to make a late charge.
Nathan Robinson, the 2024 and 2025 Peninsula Amateur champion, saw his bid for a third consecutive title end with a third-place finish at even-par 144. Robinson posted rounds of 71-73. His 2024 victory came in a playoff against Adam Petrocelli.
Guillaume Cheron finished fourth at 1-over 145, while Nicholas Sako rounded out the top five at 2-over 146.
The victory marked a breakthrough for McCord after several solid finishes in the championship. He finished T-9 in 2023 and improved to T-7 in 2024 before taking home the title this year.
Tony Ralph wins Senior Division
In the Senior Division, Tony Ralph posted rounds of 73-71 to finish at even-par 144 and secure a two-shot victory.
Daniel O'Connor finished runner-up at 2-over 146, while Greg Edwards took third at 7-over 151.
Mike Staskus finished fourth at 10-over 154, with Yoshinari Yoshikawa rounding out the top five at 17-over 161.
