Jin, Arevalo shine at FCG World Champhionship

Zihao Jin and Abegail Arevalo won their respective age divisions at the Future Championship Golf World Championship

FALLBROOK, Calif. (July 23, 2015) — The Future Champions Golf World Championship concluded this week at Redhawk Golf Club for the girls division and the Pala Mesa Golf Resort for the boys division. The boys 15-18 age group champion was decided via playoff between Zihao Jin of China and Wei-Hsuan Wang of Taiwan. Jin was the leader at 3-under going into the final round and was chased down by Wang who shot a 67 to force the playoff. Jin ended up winning the playoff and taking the trophy. The pair finished regulation at 4-under par after three rounds. In the girls 15-18 age group, Abegail Arevalo of the Philippines took the championship without much trouble. She led after each round and her final round 72 was good enough for a 1-under par total and a 6-shot victory over YuCen Han of China. Also worth mentioning is the incredible performance by Southern California’s Alexander Yang. Yang, this year’s Junior World Champion for the 9-10 age group, opened with record-breaking rounds of 62 and 63. His final-round 73 gave him a 21-shot lead over his age group and an 18-under par total. Yang will definitely be a name that will become familiar in the next few years.
