Jacobs, Wagner win Oregon Mid-Amateur titles

Five birdies on the inward nine carry Wagner to the title while Jacobs holds off Peterson and Tennant

Amanda Jacobs and Jake Wagner took home titles at the 34th Oregon Mid-Amateur Championship which concluded on Sunday at Riverside Golf & Country Club in Portland.

It is the first time that Jacobs, from Portland, has won the Mid-Amateur competition. She posted an opening-round 73 and followed that up with a final-round 74 to finish the event at 3-over par.

Jacobs held off Krissy Peterson who took second place at 5-over par (77-72). Defending champion Lara Tennant, who has won three straight U.S. Senior Women's Amateur titles, finished third at 10-over par (76-78).

Wagner came from behind to take the men’s title finishing the event at 2-under par (73-69). Wagner dropped in six birdies in Sunday’s final round, including five on the back nine, to win the event by a stroke over Landon Banks.

Banks (72-71) was the only other competitor to finish under par. Robbie Ziegler (72-72) and Jake O'Neal (72-72) tied for third at even par.
