Isabelle Lynch secures wire-to-wire win at Sunshine State Women's Amateur

Lynch finished 11-under to hold off Mary Miller and defending champion Bella Dovhey, winning the title by one shot

Isabelle Lynch shot rounds of 67-69-69 to finish 11-under and win the 2024 Sunshine State Women's Amateur at Royal St. Cloud Golf Links in Saint Cloud, Fla. The St. Thomas senior was able to hold off Mary Miller and 2023 champion Bella Dovhey by one shot.

Miller and Dovhey finished 10-under and T2.

Lynch started the week with a bogey-free 5-under 67 to hold a share of the lead after round one. She followed that up with a 3-under 69 to take a one-shot lead after 36 holes, and then her 3-under 69 final round saw her secure the win.

Louise Reau finished in solo fourth place at 6-under, and Susana Olivares finished in solo fifth place at 5-under to round out the top five.

I definitely started off a little slow (in the final round)," Lynch said. "It was rocky, and I had a couple of bogeys. I also had a lot of birdie opportunities, and I knew if I stayed patient, they would start dropping."

Lynch added, "Once I made the turn, I switched balls, and the momentum carried me. I was able to have a good start to the back nine and keep it going."

In 2023-24 for St. Thomas, Lynch competed in nine events with a scoring average of 75 over 21 rounds of play. She shot a low-round score of 68 at the Stampede at the Creek, where she took the individual title with rounds of 76-72-68 to finish with a score of 216.

According to St. Thomas Athletics, the win was her first career individual tournament title, and her low score of 68 tied Kathryn VanArragon’s program record.

She finished T11 as St. Thomas' second-highest finisher at the Summit League Championship and shot 76-77-73 for a score of 26.
