Isabel Brozena stood on the 17th green at Oak Hill Country Club with a chance to close. The Xavier University junior from North Reading seized it, dispatching Molly Smith 2 & 1 to successfully defend her Massachusetts Women's Amateur championship.
The victory marked Brozena's second straight title in the 123rd edition of the event. Last year at Taconic, she defeated Shannon Johnson 2 up for the crown. This time, she arrived at match play as the No. 2 seed after posting rounds of 72-72 to sit even par, then methodically dismantled a field that included several former champions.
