Winning points this morning for the IGA were Justin Pansegrau, Bill Manse, Scot Cook, J.D. Anderson, Josh Black, Nate Dunn and Terry Cook. Joe Palmer earned a .5 point for the team with a halve in his match.
Due to the poor conditions on Thursday afternoon, the tournament committee decided to cancel the afternoon Foursomes matches (alternate shot). The matches were determined complete following the conclusion of this mornings singles matches.
DAY ONE RECAPIt's hard to say that anyone necessarily had "fun" during the first day of the 49th Iowa Cup Matches, but one would presume that the Iowa PGA team had slightly more fun than the IGA team. On a day of cold, blustery and rainy conditions at Blue Top Ridge at Riverside, the PGA took a 5 1/2 to 4 1/2 lead after the morning Four- Ball matches were completed.
Players were faced with very difficult conditions on Wednesday. A thunderstorm rolled through the area early, which forced a delay at the start. Then the Four- Ball session was played in mid 40 degree weather, with nearly constant rain and 15 mph winds, gusting to 25. Due to the poor conditions, the tournament committee determined to cancel the afternoon Foursomes matches (alternate shot). The matches will finish with 20 singles matches on Thursday morning.
Winning a point for the IGA team were the teams of Terry Cook & Scott Briggs, Joe Palmer & Brian Verduyn, Scot Cook & Sam Zoske, and Ty Stewart & Kevin Ault. The team of J.D. Anderson & Bret Taylor secured a 1/2 point.
