Alex Hinson Claims Western Maryland Amateur by Three at Oakland

Alex Hinson steadied himself over three days in the mountains of western Maryland and walked away with a three-shot victory at the Western Maryland Amateur, closing with an even-par 72 Sunday at Oakland Golf Club to finish at 213.

The Washington DC-Baltimore area amateur, who works in the wine cellaring business, built his margin with a second-round 69 that gave him breathing room entering the final round. He held on through a tougher Sunday, posting 213 for the 54-hole championship.
