Harvie Takes the Seattle Amateur in a Playoff

For the third straight year, a playoff determines the champion, as Joe Harvie of Seattle University wins on the third extra hole

SEATTLE, WA (July 3, 2018) - Joe Harvie won the 84th Seattle Amateur Championship, prevailing on the third hole of a sudden-death playoff against Davis Gullikson. Harvie, who plays college golf at Seattle University, and Gullikson of Meadow Park both finished 54 holes at 2-under 210. Harvie closed with a 70 at West Seattle Golf Club while Gullikson posted a 73. Both players birdied the first playoff hole, and on the second both hit their approach shots within 8 feet but neither could convert. On the third extra hole, Harvie blasted a bunker shot to within 6 inches for birdie and the win. It was the third straight year the Seattle Amateur was decided by a playoff, with Kyle Cornett winning last year and Drew McCullough the year before. The low round of the day was a 69 posted by Chris Hatch, who owns the course record at West Seattle GC and whose round vaulted him to a 6th place finish. Tournament organizers also recognized the 71 shot by Eric Frank, which included a remarkable two eagles on par 4's (#8 and #10).
