Hannah Kim leads Northwestern to Fourth Straight Hurricane Inv Title

Hannah Kim took home her second consecutive Hurricane Invitational title

CORAL GABLES, FL (March, 2017) -- It was a final round to remember for Northwestern as a pair of rallies once again put the Wildcats atop the leaderboard at the Hurricane Invitational. Paced on Wednesday by junior Hannah Kim's 5-under 67 Northwestern stormed back from three behind to win their fourth consecutive Hurricane Invitational team title. Northwestern finished the week as the only team under-par at 5-under and seven shots in front of 2-over runner-up Michigan. Louisville, the first and second round leader, settled for third place at 7-over, Miami was fourth at 7-over while Division II Barry earned a fifth place 19-over finish. The stellar round from Northwestern's Hannah Kim not only lifted her team to the title but it also propelled her to a 6-under tally and medalist honors. For Kim the victory is her second consecutive at Biltmore Golf Course after claiming the title in 2016 as well. Kim, the reigning two-time Big Ten Player of the Year, bogeyed 2nd hole before finding her grove with a birdie on the ensuing hole, the first of her seven on the day, against just one additional bogey. The final birdie of the day for Kim came on the 18th hole and it proved to be the tournament decider. Northwestern also received top-10 weeks from Janet Mao (T3; -3) and Stephanie Lau (8th; -1). Rounding out the top-5 in the individual standings were Lauren Hartlage (Louisville) at 4-under in second while Elodie Van Dievoet (Michigan), Tilda Larsson (Barry), Mao and Emily White (Michigan) shared third at 3-under.
