European Mid-Am: Wire-to-wire win for Richard Heath

After finishing in third place last year, the Australian closes out a 2-shot victory over Nicolas Singer of France

DUSSELDORF, GERMANY (June 6, 2015) -- Despite the fairly benign conditions at Dusseldorf’s Hubblerath Golf Club, scoring proved to be tougher on day three of the 2015 International European Mid-Amateur Championship. Australian Richard Heath has held the top position since Thursday, when he finished the day at 4-under with five birdies and just one bogey. Saturday he put the finishing touches on a wire-to-wire to win the Championship after a third-place finish last year. Saturday’s scoring averages were up across the board. Heath started the day with bogeys on three of the first five holes, but finished even on the front nine with birdies on Nos. 3, 7 and 8. With two bogeys on the back nine, first on the par-3 11th and the other on the par-4 15th, he carded a 2-over finish. He finished the tournament at 1-under, two strokes ahead of Nicolas Singer from France. Tied for third at 2-over were Spain’s Eduardo Corsini and Dusseldorf, Germany’s own Dr. Claudio Consul.
