Engel, Jarvey take SCGA Foursomes title in playoff

The duo combined for a 4-under total, then won on the first extra hole

The SCGA Foursomes Championship ended in a playoff on Tuesday, but only one extra hole was needed at Morgan Run Resort in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.

Erik Jarvey of Lancaster, Calif., followed the pace set by veteran Dick Engel of Palmdale, Calif., and the two finished 4-under alongside the San Diego duo of Jeff Koprivetz and Pete Williams.

After opening with 1-under 70, Jarvey and Engel came back with a 3-under 68 on Tuesday. After that, it was a battle between Desert and Coast in a sudden-death playoff, ending in a victory for the Desert duo.

Notable chasers include 2018 champions Scotland Schmidt and Elijah Poppers, along with SCGA favorites Dan Sullivan and Corby Segal.

The leader and runner-up teams pulled away from the pack, with Corby Segal and Stephen Hale finishing four strokes behind at even par, taking third place among two other groups.
