Radford senior Bryce Corbett shot 3-under par 67 in the third round to take a one-shot lead at 9-under.
His scorecard was clean, and his lead was three at 10-under par until the long par-3 No. 16. He made a double bogey to drop back to 8-under.
Corbett bounced back with a nice chip from just right of the green to two feet on the par-5 18th hole for birdie and the lead.
Corbett has shot rounds of 65-69-67 to get to 9-under for the tournament.
Christopher Newport’s Robb Kinder, who tied for second place at the NCAA Division III National Championship this spring, is a shot back at 8-under. Kinder struggled in round one, carding a 3-over 73, but has since shot rounds of 65 and 64 to vault into contention.
Kinder had the low round of the day with the 6-under par 64. Kinder has made just one bogey over the last 38 holes, rebounding nicely from day one.
Second-round leader Jack Schoenberger, a sophomore at Belmont University, bounced back from a slow start playing the last seven holes in 3-under to join Kinder in a tie for second place after an even-par 70.
Wake Forest incoming golfer Kyle Haas shot 67 and is alone in fourth place at 7-under par. Brandon Robison, a sophomore from the University of Utah, is fifth at 6-under par.
Trey Wren, former Temple University golfer, shot 5-under 65 and is joined in a tie for sixth place with Virginia Tech’s David Stanford at 5-under par.
