Once again the medalist race belonged to Leona Maguire winning the ACC Individual title for a third time, this time besting teammate Jaravee Boonchant on the third extra hole. Replaying the 18th hole each player parred the hole twice thus sending the match to the 17th for a third extra hole where another par from Maguire earned her the title.
Maguire began the day ahead by one but it was a battle all day long with with each player capping their day with a closing hole birdie to finish regulation 6-under.
“We had a great tournament,” said head coach Dan Brooks now a 20 time ACC tournament winner. “I am real proud of the team. They adapted to the conditions well on a course they have never seen. There are some intimidating holes out there, and they did a great job.”
Florida State (+12) finished a very distant second, Clemson (+13) was third, in fourth came Virginia (+21) and in fifth it was Wake Forest (+26).
The top-five of the medalist race was rounded out by Morgane Metraux (Florida State) and Belac in third at 2-under while Carta, Amanda Doherty (Florida State), Jennifer Kupcho (Wake Forest) and Beth Lillie (Virginia) were even-par in fifth.
