DePaul holds 36-hole Big East Championship Lead

DePaul's Jonathan Hewett, Joey Arcuri of Butler and Matt Bachmann of Marquette are sharing the individual lead

OKATIE, SC (May 1, 2017) - DePaul shot the round of the day and heading into the final round of the Big East Championship they are 20-over and the leaders by seven shots at Callawassie Island. Seton Hall is in second place at 27-over, Marquette and Butler are tied for third at 37-over while defending champion Georgetown is in fifth place at 40-over. Leading the way for the Demon Deacons is medalist co-leader Jonathan Hewett. Through two rounds Hewett is even-par following rounds of 74-70. During Monday's second round Hewett carded a 2-under 70 with three birdies and a bogey. Three other DePaul players are currently inside the top-15; Garret Buckley (7th; +3), Freddy Thomas (T13; +10) and Jonathan Goldstein (T13; +10). Sharing the individual lead with Hewett are Joey Arcuri of Butler and Matt Bachmann of Marquette. Arcuri has combined rounds of 70-74 thus far to earn his share of the lead. On Monday Arcuri, who birdied the last hole, was able to stay afloat in the medalist race despite a pair of double-bogeys during his 2-over 74 second round. Bachmann moved into a tie for the lead on Monday with a 1-under 71. After starting with a bogey-free 3-under 33 on the front nine Bachmann dropped a pair of shots coming in. The top-five of the medalist standings is rounded out by Patrick Allgeier (Butler) and Gen Nagai (Seton Hall) both whom are tied for fourth at 1-over.
