LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (March 25, 2013) -- Cyrus Whitney fired a second-round 70 to close a wire-to-wire victory at the 2013 Sun Country Amateur Golf Association’s Spring Stroke Play Championship at Picacho Hills Country Club.
Whitney, an amateurgolf.com member and Player Staff member, who won the senior division at the 2013 amateurgolf.com San Diego County Amateur, led after a Round 1 73 and cruised to a two-shot victory.
Patrick Beyhan shot a 3-under 69 on Sunday but couldn’t quite knock off Whitney, finishing tied for second place with Sam Saunders, who shot 70 on Sunday.
Whitney also won the senior division, rolling past runner-up Jim Collins by an impressive nine shots.
