Thomas Crane closed out his Troy University classmate Lawton Emblom 2 & 1 on Sunday to capture the 25th Alabama State Match Play Championship at Goose Pond Colony Golf Course.
The Mobile sophomore's path to the title began from the No. 7 seed after rounds of 69-67 put him eight under par through 36 holes of stroke-play qualifying. From there, Crane reeled off four consecutive match-play victories, never needing the 18th hole in any of his matches.
