The Continent of Europe made a strong start to its bid for a sixth consecutive Jacques Léglise Trophy, opening an 8-4 lead over Great Britain & Ireland after the first day of foursomes and singles at The Island, near Dublin.
Europe, captained by Pierre Relecom, took control with a 3-1 advantage in the morning foursomes before extending its lead during the afternoon singles.
