Will Collins of Charlottesville, Va., opened with a 7-under 65 to take a four-shot lead in the Mid-Amateur division of the Valentine Invitational at Hermitage Country Club in Manakin Sabot, Va.

Collins produced the lowest round of the opening day to separate himself from the field. He has enjoyed success in Virginia competition before, teaming with Kyle Bailey to win the VSGA Multi-Format Team Championship in a playoff in April 2025.
