Coleman Invitational: Christovich goes wire-to-wire

JUNO BEACH, Fla. (April 26, 2014) -- Patrick Christovich closed a masterful performance at the 2014 George L. Coleman Invitational with a final-round 72 to seal a wire-to-wire victory at Seminole Golf Club.

Christovich carded rounds of 72-69-72 to outlast runner-up Kevin Marsh by three shots in the prestigious event's Mid- Amateur division.

Christovich, a New Orleans, La. resident, was a recent late addition to the U.S. Concession Cup squad. The inaugural Concession Cup takes place next week at Concession and is an international team competition between mid-amateurs and seniors from the U.S. and Great Britain & Ireland.

Many of the players on the U.S. and GB&I squads were among the field at the Coleman, including Scott Harvey, who shot a final-round 71 to tie for third place alongside Edward Richardson.

Roger Newsom and Skip Berkmeyer tied for fith place, finishing six shots back of Christovich.

Defending champion and reigning U.S. Mid- Amateur champ Mike McCoy finished tied for seventh next to 2013 Stocker Cup champion John Sawin.

Bill Williamson, who lost to McCoy in the Mid- Am finale last year at the Country Club of Birmingham, tied for ninth.

The George L. Coleman Invitational is one of the year's top events. Played at the Donald Ross-designed Seminole Golf Club, the Coleman features a loaded field featuring many of the world's top mid-amateurs and seniors.
