Charlie Coe Invitational: Greer, Narramore come back to win

First-timers Ryan Greer and Chas Narramore win the Mid-Am, while Chip Lutz and David Nelson put on a clinic in winning Senior

A team of first-timers came from behind to take home the Charlie Coe Invitational. The mid-am team of Ryan Greer and Chas Narramore were down three points heading into the final round of the CCI. Carding back-to-back rounds of +13 in the Stableford event, Greer and Narramore overcame the team of Marcus Jones and Norton Rainey who fizzled out on the final day following a hot start. "We kept telling ourselves all week that if we were going to win, we needed an eagle," Greer told AmateurGolf.com "That was kind of the turning point of the match." Greer and Narramore put up a Wednesday best 15 points which included a 5-point eagle tallied by Narramore on the eighth hole. Besting their prior two rounds, Greer and Narramore caught fire as they were paired with Jones and Rainey in what felt like a match-play match. "We knew where we stood after that first nine and it definitely felt like we were in a match-play situation," said Greer. As the overnight leaders, Jones and Rainey could only muster four points over the final 18 holes. Despite an eagle on the sixth hole, the duo squandered their lead to the red hot team of Greer and Narramore (+41). Jones and Rainey did, however, hold onto a second-place finish, closing out with a +33 total. In the senior division Chip Lutz and David Nelson put on a clinic over the 54-hole event as they bookended a +18 second round with a pair of +8 scores. Their second round was not only good for the low round of the tournament in the senior division but good for the lowest round of the tournament by two points. The duo cruised to a nine-point victory over Rusty Strawn and Allen Peake.
